Agora: internal lodge messaging

Agora is Janus’s built-in instant messaging space. Lodge members can exchange direct messages or group discussions without leaving the application.

All messages are end-to-end encrypted: only authorised members can read conversations.

Direct messages

Any member can open a direct conversation with any other lodge member. Simple, fast, confidential.

Groups and channels

Create thematic groups to structure discussions: works committee, meeting preparation, officers’ group…

• Private groups by invitation
• General channel automatically shared with all active members
• Configurable message retention (from 30 days to unlimited)
• Participant management: add, remove, promote to administrator

Real-time and notifications

Messages arrive instantly, without page reload, thanks to SSE (Server-Sent Events) technology.

• Unread badges in the sidebar updated in real time
• Notifications integrated into the Janus system
• Mobile access: interface adapted for smartphones

Control and administration

• AgoraAdmin role: designate a messaging manager without giving full admin access
• Message deletion by administrators
• Automatic purge according to the defined retention policy
